MOBITURN®

Hegenscheidt MFD a member of the NSH Machine Tool Group introduces approved technique with a new revolutionary concept for the mobile wheelset maintenance as the answer to the escalating costs applicable for providing qualified maintenance.

In the compulsory process of maintaining rail vehicles, the reconditioning of wheel profiles represents a high cost factor. So vehicle maintenance is subject to a permanent process of minimising cost, while still ensuring the required maintenance quality. Improving Fleet operators competitiveness, therefore, requires new concepts for maintenance processes and technology.

In comparison to the development of the first Underfloor wheel lathe in 1959, the development of MOBITURN® represents a quantum leap in wheelset maintenance technology.

On the basis of proven underfloor wheel lathe technology, Hegenscheidt MFD has developed the innovative concept of a mobile wheel lathe, comprehensively tested it and brought it to series production readiness.

The result contributes towards improved, demand oriented vehicle maintenance with short rolling-stock downtimes and high rolling- stock availability, for considerably higher economic efficiency in maintenance.

MOBITURN® is world wide the first and only wheelset reconditioning system that comes to meet the rolling stock.

MOBITURN® has been especially designed for machining profiles of wheel set wheels and brake disc faces in situ or with a bogie detached from vehicle or on single wheel sets.

Depot Protection

Andrew Engineering is the agent for ZONEGREEN the Industry leader in Depot Personal Protection.

After success in Europe, ZoneGreen in conjunction with Andrew Engineering have secured contracts for the installation of their SMART DPPS in New Zealand depots.

SMART Depot Personnel Protection System

Depot Personnel Protection System, commonly referred to as Depot Protection System, protects staff and equipment by ensuring the safe and controlled movement of rail vehicles into and out of depots. This allows train maintenance operations to be conducted without endangering the safety of staff, and damaging other maintenance equipment in the depot.

Zonegreen's SMART Depot Personnel Protection System (SDPPS) is a highly advanced, state-of-the-art protection system incorporating the use of intelligent distributed control and communication technology, as well as electronic personnel datakeys to identify staff working in different safety zones.

The Depot Personnel Protection System is fully programmable and can be set up to the precise requirements of the depot. It is pre-configured to function with other Zonegreen equipment, but can be modified for connection to third party products.

Your Depot Personnel Protection System will include all or some of the following functions:

Road End Panels

Road end panels (REP) are networked together and constitute the operator consoles of the Depot Personnel Protection System. Located at the end of each road, usually adjacent to the track entrance, the REP manages all depot protection functions for that road. Personnel are issued with a unique personal electronic data key to log on and off a work area via the REP’s input terminal.

Datakeys: All depot personnel have a datakey, which replaces the traditional personal padlock in old safety systems. It is set up with the user’s personal information and their authorisation level – depot staff, supervisor or engineer– and can be extended to include areas such as door control.

Derailers c/w Shunt Signals

Shunt Signal: Signals are located at the entrance and exit of the workshop to indicate to the driver whether it is safe to proceed. Inbound signals are mounted on low level galvanised stands, whilst outbound signals are placed at cab height on galvanised stands or stand off brackets.

Derailer

A derailer may be manually or electrically powered.

They are the ultimate safeguard in preventing vehicle access and are fitted to tracks approaching the depot.

Zonegreen’s Depot Manager Software

Provides key information to make operations quicker and easier to implement, ensures safety systems are used at all times and offers comprehensive traceability.

Using a convenient Windows format, Depot Manager can be configured to carry out the following operations:

    Display the location of personnel.

Record all aspects of depot protection.

Display status of plant and equipment.

Identify vehicles when used in conjunction with Zonegreen’s Train I.D. system

The innovative software provides a complete overview of the depot, on a plasma screen from the supervisor’s office, considerably increasing depot efficiency by monitoring, planning and analysing data. It can also be linked to other equipment, such as lifting jacks, bogie drops, Train I.D. readers, train washes and wheel lathes.

Depot Manager displays the status of machinery on a large plan view of the depot and Identifies the location of workers and the position of each road. Events are logged automatically, including user and vehicle movement, to give accurate information that is readily accessible should an incident occur. Maintenance details are also recorded to create historic reports of operations, which are invaluable when investigating downtime and the use of plant and equipment.

Mobile Lifting Jacks

Andrew Engineering along with business partners Eurogamma offer a complete range of vehicle lifting systems for Light/Heavy Rail and Commercial Vehicles.

Mobile lifting jacks are designed to provide a flexible and reliable system for lifting all types of rolling stock for general maintenance requirements. Lightweight, achieved by use of finite element stress analysis of the jack structure, makes the jacks easy to move by the operator.

The jacks can be controlled in sets of 4, 8, 12 etc.to perform single or multi vehicle synchronised lifts.
The modular control system allows the operator to configure the jacks to suit the operation required.

For multi vehicle simultaneous lifts, the control can be either by means of a central control panel or a number of linked mobile controllers. Proven reliability and long life are provided by the use of an irreversible trapezoidal screw / lifting nut arrangement and a highly robust jack structure.

The enclosed design of the jack column means that moving parts are guarded, minimising the potential for an accident inoperation. Jack height is monitored by special twin channel absolute encoder, ensuring accurate synchronisation and no loss of synchronisation due to power failure. Additionally, this eliminates the need for limit switches and a pulse counter, so improving the reliability of the equipment.

Twin microprocessor controls with watchdog system sensor the safe operation of the jacks. Safety features such as phase correction/detection and load nut wear detection also maximise operational safety. Jack configuration can be customised to suit the customer's application - lifting height, extending anvil, rail mounted, load cells for vehicle weighing etc.

The Jacks are fully compliant with EN1493 for vehicle lifting jacks and are manufactured under an ISO 9001 approved quality system as well as being CE certified by an independant test facility.
